I recently edited A Diagnostic Mind by Dr. Abhinav Akhilesh, published by FlyDreams Publications.
What stayed with me about the book is its central idea: before trying to solve a problem, pause and ask whether you have understood the problem correctly. Drawing from the author’s journey from medicine to consulting and public policy, the book explores structured thinking, problem definition, communication, empathy, resilience, kindness, and purpose.
It is not really a book about consulting alone. At its heart, it is about developing a better way of looking at work, people, failure, and our own decisions. The idea of moving from simply doing to actually thinking is something that extends well beyond a professional setting.
I enjoyed working on a book that asks a deceptively simple question: Are we solving the right problem?
And sometimes, that is where good thinking begins.
